I haven't been this excited for a repeat reality series, including 'American Idol' in a long time; especially since the era of exceptional talent like that of Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson had come to a screeching halt in recent years. It seems that everyone on the American Idol staff is prepping to make a big comeback with a new and improved reality show; weigh in with your own opinion as you watch the premiere of season 10 tonight and tomorrow on FOX at 8:00 PM EST via DISH Network programming.'American Idol' is revamping just about everything in order to make a big comeback for season 10, including new judges, an in-house mentor and different competitive freedom. I'm glad the producers decided that Ellen Degeneres is better at her day job, because I would assume most people would agree that they were unimpressed by the normally humorous comedian during 'Idol' last year. Kara Dioguardi and Simon Cowell have also left the show since then being replaced by pop superstar Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, leaving Randy Jackson as the only remaining 'Idol' veteran. The focus this year is said to be on the singing, no more hiding behind the instruments that some artists have used in the past as a crutch to help them skate further in the competition. The finalists will also be given the help of a mentor, Universal Records head honcho Jimmy Iovine, who producer Nigel Lythgoe describes as a no BS "music czar." In regards to the music, the contestants will not be forced into singing outside his/her genre - probably one of the biggest strides we can expect! Current mega music producers such as Timbaland will also be on hand throughout the season to guide the contestants into becoming true artists.Watch season 10 of 'American Idol' in HD on FOX, visit DISH Systems - authorized DISH Network retailer, online or call 866-989-3474 to upgrade to an HD receiver today!
