CBS has just given the green light to their romantic drama, ‘The Gifted Man’. This is a story about a man that loses his wife, thus changing the course of his life forever. This charismatic surgeon begins to learn about the meaning of life from his wife after she passes. Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson) is an exceptional doctor who lives a materialistic life of luxury thanks to his work-obsessed career and powerful and wealthy patients; however, Michael’s ordered world is rocked when his ex-wife, Anna (Jennifer Ehle), an idealistic free-clinic doctor and the love of his life, mysteriously appears before him. The only person that seems to be overly ecstatic about Anna reappearing is Michael’s sister, Christina. She is a single mom to her teenage son, Milo (Liam Aiken), is thrilled that Anna’s back in her brother’s life, even as an “illusion,” because Michael was always a better person with her. Other people in his life are just curious about the sudden change in his behavior, like his assistant Rita (Margo Martindale). When Anna asks Michael to go to her clinic to help keep it running, he meets Autumn (Afton Williamson), a volunteer carrying on Anna’s work with the underprivileged. Anna makes a drastic change in Michael’s life, she teaches him to accept that there is room in his life for everyone and his attitude toward serving the rich and poor are turned upside down.CBS has ordered three more scripts for their fledgling drama. This means the show will be around for at least 16 episodes, but does not mean it will be picked up for a full season, and the show’s fate is still uncertain. Recently the series has struggled to find an audience in the ad-friendly 18-49 demo, averaging a 1.2 rating in the Friday 8 PM slot. However, as far as total viewers, the drama starring Patrick Wilson has been solid, most recently drawing 8.3 million viewers. CBS has also recently picked up three of it’s five freshman series for full seasons, including ‘Two Broke Girls’, ‘Person of Interest’ and ‘Unforgettable.’ To learn more about your satellite TV programming package, visit us at DISH-Systems or call (866)989-3474.
