ESPN and ABC are expected to air five NBA games of highly anticipated matchups on Christmas Day, keeping fans entertained throughout the merriest day of the year. As NBA fans unwrap gifts under the tree, they’ll have something else to look forward to on DISH Network: a full day of NBA. Programming execs are expecting ratings to be high seeing as many people will be enjoying the holidays at home, with Doug White, ESPN senior director of programming and acquisitions commenting: “We look at Christmas in very much the same vein as the NFL treats Thanksgiving, […] we thought that [Christmas Day] would be a great time to provide great content for fans.”
Here is a schedule of the NBA games you can expect to watch this Saturday, December 25th on ESPN:
- Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks at 12:00 PM, noon on ESPN – also available on ESPN 3D for those with 3D TV sets
- Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics at 2:30 PM on ABC
- Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers at 5:00 PM on ABC
- Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder at 8:00 PM on ESPN
- Portland Trailblazers vs. Golden State Warriors at 10:30 PM on ESPN
Even though some NBA favorites (long-time Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson and Heat star LeBron James) have expressed mixed feelings about working once again on a Christian holiday, the “show” will still go on, despite the recent comments made in the media. NBA fans will get one of the best presents of all: an entire day’s worth of back to back NBA major match-ups. Even if you’re gone for the holidays or stuck at the airport traveling, you can still stream the NBA games live to your mobile device with the DISH Remote Access app, as long as you currently have an upgraded DVR and the “TV Everywhere” Sling Adapter.
