DISH Network Brings Real-Life Drama of Amanda Knox Murder Trial to TV in Lifetime Original Movie

At the height of the scandalous, real-life murder trial appeals in Italy, Hayden Panettiere portrays an American college student (Amanda Knox) who was convicted of murdering her roommate in 2007 while studying abroad, in a Lifetime Original Movie tonight (Feb. 21) on DISH Network at 9:00 PM. The 'Amanda Knox Story: Murder Trial in Italy,' is a 'movie adaptation' of the events that lead up to the violent night in Italy in which 21-year-old Brit, Meredith Kercher, was murdered by Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend and other friend. Following the made-for-TV movie, Lifetime will then air a one-hour documentary about the real-life murder trial saga and the current events surrounding the trial appeals, directly after the Lifetime Original Movie.
There's a cloud of controversy surrounding the Lifetime movie premiere, even though in the network's defense it is certainly timely, but Amanda Knox's family spokesperson had a different opinion saying that "the movie is ill-timed since Amanda's appeal is underway." Even Meredith Kercher's family applied pressure to the network to have the gruesome murder scene cut out of the movie calling it "absolutely horrific," which has since been replaced at the very last minute with "brief flashback sequences," according to New York Daily News. You can watch a preview of the trailer in which you see Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden play Amanda Knox's mother, as she is reunited with her daughter at the Italian prison.
You can catch the Lifetime Original Movie, 'Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy,' tonight on DISH Network, channel 108 at 9:00 PM. The movie will also air again tomorrow, Tuesday (Feb. 22) at 8:00 PM and on Saturday, (Feb. 26) at 9:00 PM.
