In honor of Veterans Day, all 10 episodes of ‘The Pacific’ will be available at HBO on Demand and HBO Go. This ten-part miniseries will air Back-to-Back on HBO 2 beginning at 10am on Friday. ‘The Pacific’ is a companion piece to the channel’s ‘Band of Brothers’ which chronicled a company of paratroopers in the 101st Airborne Division from training to D Day, and on to Germany, through Holland and Belgium. Producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks received raves reviews from veterans of the war in the Pacific and relatives of fallen fighters. It focuses on the United States Marine Corps’ actions in the Pacific Theater of Operations within the wider Pacific War. ‘The Pacific’ focuses on the lives and experiences of three Marines who were all in different Regiments of the 1st Marine Division. The miniseries touches on well-known battles with Japan involving the 1st Marine Division, those of which include Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu, and Okinawa, as well as Basilone’s involvement in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Veterans Day is a day set aside to remember all veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom. On November, 11th 1918 at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, a temporary agreement to end fighting between the Allied nations during World War I and Germany was made. Some people may think that The Treaty of Versailles ended World War I on June 28th, 1919 but November 11th is known as the real end of the wars.
