For those of you that love her controversial style and statements on pop culture, religion and sexuality you can understand why Kathy Griffin is one of the top rated comedians in the industry. For those of you that are stumped by Kathy being given that honor, Kathy herself is also very aware of how she may turn some of you off. From 2005-2010 she hosted a rating hit for the Bravo Network appropriately titled, ‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List’. This show followed her and her struggles on trying to become a popular comedian in Hollywood. During the term of this show she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program. Now after six seasons of the “D-List” that has earned her a few notches on the Hollywood Totem Pole and two Emmys, Bravo has given her the chance to star in another show all about Kathy. “Kathy” premieres tonight on Bravo starting at 10pm. This will be a one hour weekly talk show that lets Griffin get anything and everything off her chest. That means she will be ranting and raving about whatever is on her mind, from celebrities to politics. If you have already seen the previews then you know that she might be joined by her wine-loving mother Maggie, and she claims she might do the show with absolutely no clothes on. Can you believe it? When asked by the Huffington Post what the show was going to look like, this is how she replied;“It’s going to be, what’s called in the industry, a "shitstorm". I just did a promotional photo shoot for Bravo, and I’m playing a little bit of a smoke-and-mirrors game with them, where I don’t actually want them to know what the show is because I’m trying not to get canceled before my premiere. But they did a photoshoot with me with police “caution” tape around my mouth, so it’s almost as if they’re anticipating… they know what they’re in for, as will the rest of America, Canada, parts of Mexico City, the UK and Finland. The show is an hour-long weekly, which I love—kind of like Bill Maher or Howard Stern, in a way, on his radio show. We have a little more time to play with stuff and kind of go a little deep. I have some ideas up my sleeve that I hope that network is OK with, one of which is I don’t really want celebrity guests.” So if you are looking for a wholesome show to watch with family, this is definitely the wrong show for you. If you are looking to be entertained and constantly surprised then you should check out ‘Kathy’, Thursdays at 10pm on Bravo channel.
