- ‘The Most Dangerous Game’ (1932): This thriller features its main character as a big game hunter from New York, who falls off a yacht and swims to an isolated island in the Caribbean Sea. Once on the island he is hunted by a Cossack aristocrat. The story is an inversion of the big-game hunting safaris in Africa and South America that were fashionable among wealthy Americans in the 1920s.
- ‘Battle Royal’ (2000): The film tells the story of Shuya Nanahara, a high-school student struggling with the death of his father who is forced by the government to compete in a deadly game, where the students must kill each other in order to win.
- ‘The Running Man’ (1987): This film is based very loosely on Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name. The film is set in a dystopian America in the year 2019 and is about a television show called “The Running Man”. The Television show featured convicted criminal “Runners” that must escape death at the hands of professional killers, and is displayed for the world to see.

‘The Hunger Games’ blockbuster hit is finally in theaters! If you didn’t wait in line last night to see the Midnight showing then you still have time to get properly prepared yourself to see this greatly anticipated film! In ‘The Hunger Games’, the Capitol keeps impoverished districts in order by conducting annual games in which a boy and a girl from each district are chosen by lottery to fight to the death on prime-time TV. Very similar to ‘Twilight’ because it is based on a series of famous books, but different because of the female leads and the plots. ‘The Hunger Games’ author has created some sort of internal reality, not just heightened romantic love triangle being the main plot of the story. Sounds like it has a little something for everyone, action for the thrill seekers but also a love plot for the romantics at heart!
