If you’re a current Directv customer you might be wondering where some of your favorite channels have gone. Well for the time being you get to do without Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and other cable channels owned by Viacom because of a dispute over -- you guessed it -- money!
About 20 million households have been affected by this dispute and are experiencing blackouts of some major networks. What’s worse is there’s no telling when the nitpicking will be resolved. Past discrepancies have been settled in as little as a couple days, some lasted weeks. This one looks like it might be a bruiser.
DirecTV is experiencing a serious backlash over this and rightfully so. They probably won’t see it escalate to the effect that Netflix saw this past summer when they almost doubled its rates -- but the longer this thing lasts, the more customers DirecTV will likely lose.
